Emily Dunbar , Certified Educator
Emily is an Ontario Certified Teacher with a Masters in Child studies and Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto. With a decade of experience teaching French Immersion, and two decades of experience working with children, Emily brings a passion for supporting students on their journey towards reaching their potential while feeling confident and comfortable with their individual identities.
Emily’s classroom experience together with her recent certification as a Communicative Disorders Assistant from Durham College and placement experiences at Centennial Infant and Child center and Developing Hands Pediatric Therapy Center, she brings a wealth of knowledge about child development, language, literacy and math to the Spark team.
When she’s not teaching at Spark or supply teaching at Jackman Institute of Child Study, she enjoys a variety of arts and crafts, such as pottery and making decor pieces from natural and recycled materials. She also has a passion for gardening and is actively involved in making the development and maintenance of her local community garden. Emily also enjoys making herbal medicines, playing video games and reading science fiction!
