Sade Akande-Jones (she/her), Occupational Therapist

Sade Akande-Jones, MScOT, OT Reg. (Ont.), Occupational Therapist, has a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Toronto, as well as an Honours degree in Neuroscience and Psychology (HBSc) from the University of Toronto. Sade has 20 years of experience in the provision of occupational therapy services. She has worked across the healthcare continuum from acute care to community-based settings. She currently runs her own private practice treating individuals with traumatic brain injuries, neurological conditions, complex orthopedic injuries, attention deficit disorder, autism and mental health conditions. 

Sade’s current focus is on pediatric populations addressing academic performance, handwriting and executive functions to support clients with overcoming occupational performance barriers.  She continually seeks opportunities for further education and training to ensure she uses evidence-based practice in her work. She has training in Cognitive Orientation to Daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP) Approach, Handwriting Without Tears and Zones of Regulation. She has taken various courses to support her clients with the management of cognitive, sensory processing, chronic pain, and mental health challenges.

Sade is actively involved in the education of student occupational therapists as an Adjunct Lecturer with the Department of Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy at the University of Toronto.  She is also engaged in outreach initiatives to improve the health outcomes in the Black community through her involvement on the Black OTs of Ontario leadership team, and as a founding member of the Ontario Rehab Alliance (ORA) Black Network. In 2022, Sade was nominated for the Health Care Provider of the Year Award.
