Venessa Leung (she/her), Teacher

Venessa is an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) with a decade of experience in teaching and tutoring. Holding a Bachelor of Arts in English Studies and a Postgraduate Diploma of Education, Venessa brings a rich background and diverse skill set to her role as an educator.

Her career began uniquely with two years spent leading outdoor education programs for students aged 8 to 18. During this time, she facilitated overnight camping trips and engaged students in outdoor sports such as rock climbing and ziplining. This experience not only honed her leadership skills but also deepened her understanding of the importance of experiential learning and personal growth.

Transitioning to the classroom, Venessa discovered her passion for working closely with individual students and small groups. She finds immense satisfaction in building strong, supportive relationships with her students, which she believes significantly enhances their learning outcomes. Her approach is centered on creating an inclusive and responsive learning environment tailored to meet each student’s needs.

Committed to professional growth, Venessa continually updates her knowledge through professional development courses, focusing particularly on diverse learning strategies and special educational needs. This dedication ensures she remains well-equipped to address the unique challenges and opportunities in special education.

Venessa is a dedicated advocate for Cantonese, her native language, and actively teaches classes while fostering a community in East York. Additionally, her passion for outdoor sports remains a significant part of her life; in her spare time, she enjoys hiking, camping, and rock climbing with her family.
